Flourish in the Forest

Flourish in the Forest offers local families exclusive access to the wonderful Maxilla Forest School, access to the summerhouse and some equipment. Art materials and a worksheet will be provided to those who wish to be creative.

The programme offers a combination of one-off sessions and regular weekly bookings. Priority will be given to families receiving free school meals and living in overcrowded housing with no access to private outdoor space. We will also be accepting and prioritising referrals from local schools.

Maxilla Forest School is a private gated garden originally set up as an outdoor learning resource for Maxilla Nursery. Since 2015, it has been operating as a forest school for local primary schools. ACAVA has kindly been granted the use of the space for Flourish in the Forest by Golborne and Maxilla Nursery School.

Words from our participants

“We don’t have a garden, so during that first lockdown, being able to access that space, once a week, really was a really important outlet for us. […] So it just felt like a safe space to just enjoy being outside…”
