Wembley: free creative workshops for families this summer holiday

Is your family based in Wembley? Join us this summer holiday at our community studio and outside in the park to explore reverberation, ripples and weight, using clay, sound, costume-making and creative play. With artists Amelia Tan, Camilla Brendon, Flora Duley and Josh Bilton.
Our Flourish ‘Ripple’ workshops are free and will take place at ACAVA Barham Park Studios between 31 July and 22 August 2024. Sessions are inclusive, free to access and light refreshments will be served.

Programme
Week 1: Wed 31 Jul – Fri 2 Aug, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Collaborate with artist Flora Duley to create beautiful clay forms, sea beads and suspended sculptural mobiles inspired by the sea, breeze, ripples and waves.
Week 2: Tue 6 Aug – Thur 8 Aug, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Explore the ripple effect of energy and ideas with artist Camilla Brendon, and make positivity charms and words to spread throughout the community.
Week 3: Mon 12 Aug – Wed 14 Aug, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Work with artist Josh Bilton to explore the weight of endangered birds through sculpture, costume and storytelling. We’ll be thinking of the movement of a ripple poetically as the sharing of weight, where a stone shares its weight with water and changes its form, or the air shares its weight with the water and changes its movements.
Week 4: Tues 20 Aug – Thur 22 Aug, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Work with artist Amelia Tan to explore kinetic sculpture, sound and reverberations. Create obstacle courses for balls, marbles and wheels, and make instrument-like objects to use in a collaborative large-scale installation.
