Factory Seminar: Telling Your Story on Social Media

Learn how to find your authentic voice as an artist or creative business on social media. Led by ACAVA artist Katrina Wilde, we’ll explore the power of visual storytelling and how to make your existing digital tools work harder for you. Katrina will also share her own experiences of using social media as a professional tool and communicating online with meaning and balance. Whether you’re an aspiring creative or a seasoned professional, this workshop is for you.

Factory Seminar: How to Deliver Creative Workshops

This is an intensive training seminar to get you ready to deliver your creative workshop ideas. By the end of the session you will be able to comfortably plan and deliver an engaging creative workshop.

This free Factory session is led by BCB Learning & Participation Manager Natalie Armitage and BCB Associate and ACAVA artist Zeba Imam. They will discuss how to design and implement a creative workshop from start to finish. First, you’ll learn the ins and outs of good workshop design and how to keep your audience engaged. Then they will highlight key considerations, such as health and safety and safeguarding.

This in-person session will take a practical approach and give participants a chance to plan their own workshop. Using the information from the first part of the session they will develop a workshop that they can then deliver to a wide range of people. Please note, this event is in-person.

Factory Seminar: A Guide to Finances for Creatives

Led by published author and start-up business expert Peter Ball. From ordering materials to selling work, managing your finances is vital to ensuring you don’t overspend. This means you can set your prices and manage your time effectively. During this session, you’ll learn how to manage your finances with confidence as a creative business or independent artist. Peter is the author of ‘Start A Small UK Business: Business Planning Tools To Turn Your Ideas Into Business Success’. Using his vast experience in the world of business, he will help you avoid common pitfalls and get your financial essentials in place. Please note, this is an in-person event.

Factory is a free professional development programme for creatives in Staffordshire.

Delivered in partnership with Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, Staffordshire University and the British Ceramics Biennial. The programme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Every month, established artists and other professionals deliver practical and interactive workshops online. The participants are encouraged to meet in breakout rooms, which offers an opportunity for networking.
